Summary | 0000841: Wood Search Radius too large, seriously deteriorating gameplay
Description | A common complaint in both 8p Populous and 4p Populous in the beta edition is the brave's 'radius' for prioritising wood piles. While everyone agrees that it's amazing they don't cut down trees anymore, the radius they use to look for wood piles is far too great. It allows players who don't know how to harvest to ruin the experience for players who do, and has thus resulted in them being excluded from games as people can't be bothered to play with them. The wood radius causes a few issues, listed below: 1. On maps like Sess, if you forget to harvest your own base, or have been a little slow on it. Braves take a LONG walk to the other base, which is both hard to spot and annoying for the ally. 2. Maps like Narrow Passage, braves will walk all the way to the far reaches of the allied base to take their wood piles, which also slows down building. 3. If one player builds much faster than the other, it creates a skill-gap issue where someone is basically funnelling wood into a better player, which isn't a fun experience for the person just sat watching his piles get taken. 4. 8p maps, it becomes brave slaughter as more braves are running far and wide to steal various wood piles, it becomes hard to build quickly, which is most noticeable in 8p games due to the importance of quick defence
Steps To Reproduce | Play games with allies on various maps and try to build quickly. Have one ally not harvest at all. Scatter wood piles in hard to reach places and watch them be prioritised (sure pathfinding has an impact on this too)
