This is usually caused by the game attempting to connect to IP and it takes a very long time for it to timeout. An idea to fix this is to launch the game first into a "Connecting" screen that then dumps the player into the lobby. This also makes it easier for players to know that the game is working and that it can't connect, rather that its "broken". I've never seen this problem while launching single player. |

I'm not talking about that. When what you described occurs, "Loading" is shown. I'm talking about freezing; when you run the game, and "Loading" disappears, and other people see you in the game and your ping is moving, but you can't actually see or click anything other than a "wait" cursor and the backdrop of whatever you were doing before the game launched (which does not update). This seems to occur more with Windows XP and under certain scenarios. |
